We are entering our 45th Season of providing Outdoor Soccer to the youth of Bowmanville and we have lots of exciting things coming your way.
At our AGM we were very glad to have everyone confirmed as remaining with our Board. Becky is my Vice President, Coach Coordinator and Secretary and my right hand. Her experience, judgment, and friendship are invaluable to me. Linda is our Treasurer, Jessica is our Photography Coordinator, Bill is our Registration Coordinator and also a Treasurer, Leanne covers our Social Media, and Dawar is our Sponsorship Coordinator. We are always happy to see Peter when he is available to join us, he is a very busy parent and actor, and are grateful to see him.
Our Program
We completed another very successful Outdoor Soccer season with approximately 1000 children in Bowmanville and the surrounding areas registered to play in the summer of 2022. We were so happy to see those numbers after struggling through last summer and having to cancel the summer of 2020.
We provided several sessions of Keeper training for any child who expressed an interest in further training. It was a huge success and one we are planning to continue.
What’s Ahead in 2023?
Registration for Soccer 2023 will be open as of January 1st, 2023. The office will be closed until January 9th, if you have a problem while registering send them an email and they will respond once they return, it may take a bit to get to your email so please be patient. We will be bringing back the Coach Meeting at the beginning of the year. It was a successful meeting that we did when all the Coaches came to pick up their Equipment in May. It gave the new Coaches a chance to chat with us, get some ideas & tips, and encouragement for the season. It unfortunately stopped because of Covid, but we feel there is still a need for it so it will be coming back.
We are once again going to be Sponsoring a Free Skate at Rickard Arena. One of the Public Skating days in February will be completely free for the participants, keep an eye out on our website and social media platforms for the date. We hope you will consider dropping by for a skate and some treats on us!
Something new we are doing this year is a “Kick Off” to the season. We are still working on all the details but it will be held in June for all the Coaches, players and parents to gather to have some fun and some good food!
We will still be doing our standby things like Coach Appreciation day & Fun Day - after Covid it is nice to be making those plans again.
As 2022 draws to a close I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of our donors and sponsors. Without your support we would not be able to provide all these wonderful activities for the youth of Bowmanville who love soccer as much as we do! I want to extend my thanks to the Coaches and parents for their continued support of BUSC and all the work that they do. We deeply appreciate you and look forward to seeing you again in the Summer of 2023.
Finally a special thanks to my Executive Board & Council who go above and beyond with all the work that they do. You really can’t get an appreciation for what happens behind the scenes until you see it for yourself. I have been President of the BUSC for 5 years now I am always impressed by the dedication of this amazing group of people.
